In an effort to build problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, we have added a 5th element to Morning Meeting - Role Play.
Our current focus area is "Being a good friend." Each morning we create a scenario that allows us to target student behaviors and interactions and promote positive conflict-resolution. We act out the first scene in the role play, then students take over our roles and perform a retake of how they would handle a given situation while adhering to the class rules they created at the beginning of the year.
We are focusing on behaviors that have arisen in the classroom and at recess where students have found themselves in challenging situations. Here are some of the topics we have covered:

- Using kind words (avoiding teasing, name calling, and bullying)
- Accepting others' differences and being supportive of each other
