Flip TEN
Flip TEN-Fun addition card game to practice Clap & Count On (Clap the greater number and count on your fingers to add the number that is less) and Mental Math. Kids line up cards in four rows of five. Then, they flip two cards over. If the sum of the two cards equals 10, they keep the cards and replace the cards with two more from the deck. The game ends when there are no more matches left.
You can play this game with UNO cards or a regular deck of playing cards (just remove the face cards before playing).

Lego Addition & Subtraction
Line up 2 Legos next to each other to add or subtract the circles on the legos. When subtracting, be sure to place the greater number block on the left and the number that is lesson the right (In subtraction, the whole number always comes first in a subtraction sentence).
Lego Patterns
Building chains of Lego in repeating patterns, with the same sequence of colous going along the line, is very good mathematical patterning and are early steps towards addition and times tables. Kids can move from simple to complex patterns.
Lego symmetry challenge
Take turns to build half a picture and then see if the other person could complete it. This is a butterfly but you can just make patterns rather than specific pictures. You can make this as simple or complex as you like, to suit your child’s level – and I bet they’ll try and make the pattern you have to complete as difficult as possible!
