Habits of Good Writers
Students will explore many different writing genres this year, and through these genres, they will hone their skills through the 6 Traits of Writing: Ideas, Organization, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions, and Voice. Did we say 6 Traits? Really there are 6 +1. We can't forget the importance of Presentation in our writing!
In the same way that students are learning habits of good readers, they are also learning the habits of good writers. They are working on building a community of writers, building their writing stamina, developing writing goals with teachers and sharing those goals with peers to reach out for support from the community. Their works-in-progress and published pieces are shared with the community during feedback sessions and celebrations.
